Instructions:
Let your arms hang loosely. Concentrate on your fingertips as you move both arms from outside to the centre and inhale through your slightly open lips. As our articulate [oː], lower your arms with your palms facing upwards, as though you were holding a bowl. When transitioning to [m], turn your hands and slowly move them forwards, as if reaching out into the distance. The movement should be slow enough to last until you have fully exhaled, intonating the [m]. Recommended duration of the entire breath: 15–20 seconds.
Goals
Creation of inner calm and harmony. Deep and calm breathing.
Effects and indications
OM [oː] – [m]
Synchronises the blood-pressure and heart-rate rhythm with breathing, which leads to deep relaxation.
Contraindications
Inability to pronounce OM, usually due to voice problems. In such cases, the exercise can be performed receptively.
